If you fancy getting into this exciting sport, then why not couple it with an overnight stay to make the most of it. Surfing is one of the country's fastest growing sports. The waves are rolling in, and you're could be having the ride of your life. Designed for the very beginner to intermediates of all ages, you're ensured a positive, successful and fun time in the water. Far out!
You will first meet at the lodge where you will be greeted by your surf instructor, then proceed to the surf school changing rooms where you will be given a wetsuit to suit your size, as well as booties, gloves and a hood depending on the time of year. As soon as you have hopped into your wetsuits, you'll jump into the minibus and head for the beach.
On arriving at the beach, a 10 minute land drill takes place. This includes some safety as well as a land tutorial on how to catch waves and stand up on a wave. Once the land drill is done you'll enter the water where the fun begins. The water part of each lesson lasts approximately one hour and 30 minutes, during which your instructor will aim to initially get you standing on your surfboard and then gradually improve all aspects of your surfing. On finishing the surf lesson, you'll be brought back to the lodge where you can have a hot shower, a cup of coffee and muffins or biscuits.
Your accommodation will be in a double room ensuite and includes a TV, Internet access, plus continental breakfast provided to all guests daily. Breakfast includes tea, coffee, toast, fruit, orange juice and a variety of cereals. There is also a chill-out area where you can take in the view of Donegal Bay and the Atlantic Ocean from a comfy chair, and a dining room which stays open all day with tea and coffee making facilities provided to keep you going through the day. Check in is from 11.00 and the latest is 16.30.
